Can't Repartition 8300HD 160 GB HDD For PC Use

I replaced my 8300HD PVR hard drive(160 GB)with a 500GB HDD and all is fine.
I would like to reuse the 160 GB HDD for PC use.
Using XP's Disk Management for the 160 GB HDD shows the following:

Disk2 (with a red circle beside it)
Unknown,149 GB, Not Initialized
In the partition, it says Unallocated

If I right-click, there is no option to delete the partition
and NEW PARTITION is greyed-out. Any ideas ?

There is no partition to delete. I assume this information appears in the lower DISK panel. In the upper panel do you see a VOLUME even if it is unknown?

You need to initialize the disk and then format it. I just did this exact thing myself not 2 hours ago.

Problem solved-Thanks for the replies.

Originally, when I ran Disk Management, I had bypassed the
"Initialize & Convert Disk Wizard". After using the Wizard, the
"red circle" beside Disk 2 disappeared and I was able to proceed
successfully. The Wizard gave me the option to INITIALIZE.

As a matter of interest, the 160 GB HDD was attached externally
using a Vantec IDE to USB adapter. (very convenient)
