My Epson 5010e Projector Turned Green

I turned on my home theater projector tonight and the screen is tinted green with a bunch of vertical green lines. Would anyone know what might be causing this?

Are you using HDMI? Sometimes a poor connection will cause these sorts of issues. Unplug/replug the HDMI cable at both ends a few times and/or try a new HDMI cable temporarily if possible.

Thanks for you help, 57. You guys on here are always so helpful.

I tried unplugging the HDMI and the green screen went away after a couple minutes. I plugged the HDMI back in and it worked. However, the problem keeps recurring whenever I turn the projector off and on again. When I turn the projector back on, there is a pinkish tint (the EPSON logo appears in pink instead of white) and then the green kicks in after a few seconds.

Any ideas what the problem might be? Without seeing anything, what's your best guess? Is the problem the projector, the HDMI cable, or the home theater receiver we're running everything though.

Thanks.
Darren

The fact that the EPSON logo appears in pink instead of white makes me think the problem is the projector, since the logo is internally generated.

I would try turning off the projector, unplug the HDMI cable (leave it unplugged) and turn the projector back on. If the logo is still pink, then it's definitely the projector.

In the same way that a loose HDMI connection can cause such issues, a loose connection of some sort inside the projector can do the same. Dr.Dave's test is a good one. If it proves positive that it's inside the projector, then you could take it in for service or try yourself, if you're handy, to find the loose connection.
