Complete Newbie HT construction
Hey guys,
There is so much information that I hope some of you who have the knowledge or experience can guide me with the correct information.
I'm been reading posts over the years and I've finally decided the time has come to construct my own Home Theater Room. We have decided to finally finish the basement as it currently stands all I have done is outer wall studs with insulation with a concrete floor. When I constructed my home I dedicated a section for future Home Theater Room. There are no windows but I'm not sure if the size is good now after reading so much info.
I do have a larger section but there are windows so before I begin on a plan/layout I need your help.
The section of the basement as it stands right now that I want to build the HT is 12' wide by 16' long. Height is 8'6" concrete to joist.
Is this size good? I'm looking at putting 6 or 8 seats if it fits on 2 rows 3 per row or 4. The back row will be raised.
I do have a section on the side of this room that will house all my equipment.
What screen size should I look at? Is an Elite fixed frame 106" to big for this room size?
I want it to be comfortable and not make it claustrophobic.
I'll also want some advice on soundproofing, flooring, lighting and equipment, but before I ask for advice I wanted to start off with room dimensions and layout.
Thank you so much to everyone in advance for any help or advice you send my way.
