Microsoft said it does not know if it will support Blu-Ray technology from Sony and Philips in Longhorn

The only thing I'm being cautious about re: HD-DVD is the use of different CODECs. I'm sure factory DVD's will look great, but home recordings (if they even allow us to make them : ) may suffer due to re-encoding. With VC9 and H.264, along with 8 to 12 Mb bitrates, things may get more complicated than need be. Then again, recordable HD-DVDs aren't going to fit much using standard ATSC streams. We'll have to wait and see.
