I got an Atari 2600 in '79, with the Combat cartridge, got Sea Battle not long after that. First computer was a Timex Sinclair i put together myself in '81. Not long after that it was an Atari 130XE, then an ST, then a STe 1040, mostly into strategy and wargames. Im still into the old stuff...

Games? Who doesn't play games? I live for games!!!
My first videogame machine was something that looked like coleciovision but wasn't. It was triangular in shape with a steering wheel on one side, a light gun on the other, and two paddles on the 3rd side.
Then, the 2600 came out. I had about 20 some games until I bought the COCO 1 from Tandy. Then the MC10 came out and had to have that one. I then got a COCO 2 with a new improved keybaord and awesome graphics for an 8bit computer...so I thought. Then the COCO 3 came out.
After the 8bit computers, I moved to 16 bit with a computer that played awesome games. The Amiga 1000. For 512K of ram, it kicked arse.
Then one day, I saw Dragons Lair, my all time favorite, on an Amiga 500. I had to get that one. I grew tired of the limited expansion so moved up to the Amiga 2000 HD (for Hard Drive) which I still fire up once in a while.
After the Amiga 2000HD, I went thorugh all 8088, 80286,80386, 80486 etc etc etc.

I had the SEGA Genesis with CD-Rom to play, yet again, Dragons Lair. Then I had Gameboy to play Dragons Lair. Did I mentioned I like Dragons Lair?
I bought Dragons Lair on DVD as well as Time Warp and Space Ace. I built an Arcade Cabinet from scratch to play those game and others, like they were meant to be played.

On this topic, Hugh, what do you think of having an emulator section on your forums? I see lots have emulators of different OS or the like in this thread. Just something that might be of interest.

Dragons Lair maybe?

The Video Games section is pretty lightly travelled so I doubt an emulator section would draw much attention.

I guess I'm a really late bloomer. I never owned a game system as a kid and have never really played many PC games either. This Tuesday I recieved a free XBox for taking a Microsoft Exchange course. I went out and picked up the HD video connections, a fibre optic cable for audio and HALO 2. After hooking it all up I was eager to start blasting away. Fifteen minutes of walking into walls and I decided to source out an internet site which had was orientated to complete newbies and offered a "guide" to navigating the game. I'm thinking I should have picked up a game which is a little easier - is Pong avaiable for the Xbox?

LOL. Actually, Pong was the first game system I owned. I think that was the only game on it . . .. circa 1975.

I remember it clearly. It was November of 1983. My gandparents were coming back from the States, and they were supposed to bring me back a Colecovision. They ended up getting me a Commodore 64 instead because they guy at the electronics department at K-Mart told them I'd get more use out of it.

I was mad at first because at that time the Coleco was the elete game system. Turned out to be one of the best things that could have happened.

First games- Jupiter Lander on cartridge, and Forbidden Forrest on tape. Forbidden Forrest took about 30 minutes to load.

I recently resurected my Commodore 64- after not being happy with using the PC as an emulator. Anybody want to get together to swap games on floppy?

Isn't there a mod that can let you adapt an MFM hard drive on the C64? Somehow I kinda remember seeing that somewhere....way back when an IBM hard drive had 10 Megs space and weighed a ton.

"Pong" was my first video game - man am I old !!!!!!!!!!! IIRC, my parents paid ! C$90 for it back in the day. I remember the day I got it fondly - celebrated by going to McD's for 10 cent cheeseburgers. That actually ended my game console days until I bought myself a PS2 just after x-mas .

Yep, Pong back in the 70s sometime, displayed in all its glory on my parent's tiny B&W tv. Then a Vic20 back in the late 70s, for which I had about 10 game cartridges and was able to program a couple of lame games in Basic.

Compare that to what we have now, and imagine what another 30 years of video game evolution will bring us!

Commodore Vic-20, followed by a Commodore 64.

Then nothing until the original Playstation came out.

Currently have a PS2.

Can't remember the first game on the Vic-20.
