Plasma vs LCD: What's the current opinion?
I'm looking to get a new tv in the near future, and I'm wondering what the current thoughts are on Plasma vs LCD. I'm looking somewhere between 40" and 50", so I'm right in the sweetspot for comparisons.
For the most part, the tv will be for HDTV and movies, with about 25% gaming mixed in. TV will include (thanks to my fanatic girlfriend) about 25% sports.
So, if you had $1500-$2500 to spend, right now, what way would you go? In theory, that gets me all the way up to Pioneer for plasma, and just about anything for LCD.
For comparison, I have a Sharp 32" LCD now that will move to the bedroom. When I watch movies or football, I can notice some blur. On my 360, everything looks wonderful.
Plasma pros (from what I can tell)
Better picture ie black levels
Better for motion
Better energy conservation (I do care about the environment)
Better in bright light
No burn in (I'm not really concerned about this given what plasma can do these days)
One note, we're moving into a North facing apartment and are installing aluminimum blinds, so I really doubt glare will be a factor.
