A little dilemna....

I just recently moved out and just bought myself an affordable HDTV (Samsung LNT3242H). I absolute love it. Over-the-air HD is awesome but it seems to be noticeably better than then DVDs played by my computer through a VGA connection. Now I understand my computer is not displaying the DVD at HD resolution (in my case 720P).

My question is: Should I go buy myself an upconvert dvd player? (Something cheap but apparently good like the Philips DVP5982 $60). Upconvert DVD players probably may be better compared to a stardard dvd player but will it be much better than a computer DVD player connected through VGA?

If anyone has any experience or knowledge, please share.

I have read the thread but it doesn't answer my question. My computer is non-HD but when I play dvds the picture seems quite nice. I am willing to invest in a upconvert dvd player if the quality will be better then what I'm getting from my computer. I am connecting the tv and computer with VGA connection. I know normal dvd players probably don't compare to upconvert dvd players but will the picture quality be much better then what I'm getting from my setup? (Don't know if this matters but my display is set at 1360x768 while the tv's native resolution is at 1366x768.)

The DVD Forum has lots of threads about upconverting DVD players including one that is sticky. I recommend asking any quetsions in that thread.
