Samsung pn51d440

Hi Everyone,
Looking for any feedback on this particular TV model.
I've read the specs etc but can't find any specific feedback on the TV itself.
It is the one from the WalMart special Black Friday sale this weekend.
It appears to $100.00 less than anywhere else ($498.00 vs. $598)
But, is it a good buy?

Thanks in advance.

Nem, who is always looking for a good deal

Most stores are selling the PN51D450

Costco I think has the 440.

Looks like about 8 places have the 450 from $479 to $499 this weekend.

Samsung pn51d440

I bought the pn51d450 about a month ago from FS. Great TV with a great picture. I have it in a family room with a controlled light environment, so no light reflection issues. I believe the pn51d440 model is just a model number for big box stores. From what I could find there was no difference.same specs.
The only thing I don't like is the TV will not play movie files (avi or mkv) from the USB port. Only still pictures and music. The European, Asian and African model do play movie files. Not sure why the North American version gets left out. Samsung could not answer this either... A firmware update could fix it to play movies, go figure.
The HD picture from my OTA antenna is just perfect. as is blu-ray. I think this TV is really 768p. as the resolution is 1360 x 768 , vs panasonic and the LG entry level plasma set which are 1024x768. whether the set is 720p or 768p it has a great picture with lots of detail. Great TV for the price.

Hi All,

New here, upgraded from a 27" Sylvania to the pn51d450 just last week. Was able to get it from Future Shop for 477. The manual for the 430/440/450 is the same. Walmart seems to have the 430. Best Buy the 440 and Sears the 450.

Looking forward to the forum.
