Panasonic Plasma Panel Aging - Hours of Use..

Does anyone know how to check how many hours have been put on a Panasonic plasma panel? Is this a service menu thing? I want to get my VT30 calibrated but want to wait till at least a 150 hours of use has passed..

Hey !

This is how I did it recently for my G10 series:

1. In order to check the number of hours, you need to enter the service menu (SM). To do this, hold the Vol– button on the TV itself. While holding this, press INFO on the remote three times. Continue holding Vol–. The blue service menu should appear.

2. Press 2 on the TV remote.

3. Press OK on the TV remote.

4. Press the down arrow (▼) on the TV remote until you highlight “PTCT”

5. Press the right arrow (►) on the TV remote.

6. Hold MUTE on the TV remote for three seconds. The number of hours and minutes will appear.

7. To exit, hold the power button on the TV until the set turns off.

The only reason to wait is to ensure that the TV doesn't have infant mortality. You can actually calibrate any time. There's a link in the following Optimization FAQ on that (Break in) topic too.

A word of caution that you can screw things up in your service menu so be careful.

Having said that, the major reason to break-in a set is simply to ensure the tv is functioning properly before spending the money to have it calibrated.

If it has been working fine for a 30 days of regular usage (whether that is 30 hours or 150 hours) then you should be okay to have the calibration done.

works like a charm idrive. My results are 'time 80 and count 171'. Now does that mean 80 hours or 171 hours?

brownriggd,

Time is the run time in hours/minutes.

Count is the number of times the TV was powered on.

Cheers.
