Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Tropo was pretty good this afternoon, I was getting most of Pittsburgh including the rare ones, WINP, KDKA etc but I was in a rush to get to my sisters so didn't post.

Cleveland is still booming but I'm also getting some south east channels, namely WSKA, WETM and WYDC, they are very sporadic, strong one minute gone the next.

Eastern tropo always give me more distance than west, hopefully the next few days give up a blast of the east coast, we're due!

Looks like that myth died hard this am, nice grab Jorgek!

@orbot , the system times out 12 hours after a post, I got a warning message when I tried posting just on the cusp of 12 hours.

It was surrendipitous that we both grabbed WOAH before it goes dark, grabbing these low power/repeaters between now and the actual repack will be challenging.

At times last night/ this morinng it got very confusing what stations were on what transmitters I was getting, I had 3 vc19-1's, 2 vc45's etc. Took me ages to figure out it wasn't a tuner glitch that I was getting WPXI on two frequencies. I NEVER use the "scan" feature on my tv, I just keep pounding the remote down channel (the up no longer works).

I crashed shortly after Seth Myers eviscerated Trump but slept on my couch rather than bed and woke up frequently with remote in hand reflexively DOWNING the button, all for naught.

Came close to getting Providence R.I. (WJAR) that Hepuburn got, got up to 18% and then died, no big deal but that's my longest haul.

Actually Pittsburgh is just about as close to due south of my location as you can get, its like 185 degrees true.

Zank, yeah it's kind of funny because last week I was on rabbitears.info looking at the directional antenna patterns for some of those seemingly ungettable low-power stations like WAOH, and I pretty much gave up hope after noticing it only pumps out 0.0135 kW up towards us. Must have been a weird night when WAOH is booming up north for a while!

EDIT 11:44pm - picking up some Detroit right now, WJBK7, WMYD21, WDIV45

@orbot , how did you calculate that erp? I'm familiar with the Longley Rice patterns on rabbitt ears but not on calculating what the ERP would be given my location.

One channel we have a good chance of snagging from Cleveland is WIVM because WIVB will be on WNLO's transmitter by late this year or early next, making rf39 a LOT easier to get.

Cool, it'll be nice to have a new open frequency to search on before the repack happens. For the ERP calculations on rabbitears.info, you can go to a station's page from Tools >>> TV Query (like WAOH) and then scroll down a bit and click the "Relative Field polar plot" link, then hover the mouse over the white dots to see the calculations (the direction would be your aim at the transmitter plus/minus 180 degrees). I'm not sure how the erp is actually calculated, apparently it's not as easy as multiplying the maximum erp to the relative field value like I used to assume (unless I'm misinterpreting the numbers).
