That must be the channel that is knocking out my TVO on RF18. Nice snag, the red blob so far has been uneventful for me at my location.

Yeah the tropo's been really sporadic and inconsistent here, by the time I finished my post WKEF was gone. I just picked up a new one now though:

RF39 43.1-5 WKOI Richmond, IN

First time ever knocking out WIVB on RF39, which is kind of surprising because WIVB is 95 miles away. Also, the WKOI tower is actually north of Cincinnati in Ohio.

@orbot , I thought you got that Pittsburgh rf39 WBYD same time I got it. I missed out on any long hauls last night, was getting Cleveland etc then crashed, this am is pretty decent, getting the big 4 out of Columbus, some Pittsburgh and most of Cleveland, nothing new.

Nice grab on that WKOI.

9:30am WMHT rf34 Schenectady

Great grab Zank. My location is weird this morning. It is not acting like enhanced conditions like you would think. More like the winter time with stable signals.

I hope you guys nail some more of these catches today. I have to leave for a few hours, so go get em'.

It's very sporadic here, one minute Pittsburgh's booming then dead, same with Columbus and Cleveland.

Picked up WWMT8 from Kalamazoo MI just now in an autoscan but it's gone now. The whole day's been pretty frustrating with nothing coming in.

Frank, unfortunately I missed out on that RF39 during those extreme Pittsburgh tropo events. Now I have 3 channels left that I've only picked up one transmitter each on: RF9/20/36. It'd probably help if I used a more directional antenna though.

Great pick up orbot. I'm closer to that transmitter but I can't get anything but Detroit pointing that way. This week has been frustrating considering that the red blob has been above me all week but I can't get anything but my normal channels.

Heads-up, just picked up RF21 Nashville TN at 600+ miles and it's booming at 100%.

EDIT: It's gone now but it was booming for a couple minutes.

No way, that is incredible!! You smashed my record by over 108 miles. I've been trying to beat my Davenport Iowa record of 492 miles but you got over 600. Amazing and congrats sir. Keep up the good work. Its a great feeling when you're in the right place at the right time!!

Yeah I must've got super lucky with my location to that duct + perfect conditions. Before today I was stuck below 400 miles, and when I scanned in WUXP I assumed it was from Indianapolis, until I checked the location on rabbitears then distance-checked in google earth and was pretty shocked. I doubt I'll ever get that distance again.

It was a good morning here, there were eastern leftovers from late last night with the usual eastern stuff plus WWNY7 Watertown, then stuff started coming in from the southwest with WJBK7 / WMYD21 Detroit, WTOL11 Toledo, WBGU27 Bowling Green, WVIZ38 East Lake, CIII29 Oil Springs, CHWI16 Wheatley, CTS14 / TVO18 / OMNI148 London, plus TVO33 from Chatham that I've only picked up once before in 2013. Then at 10:45am I finally got over 400 miles when some new ones came in:

63.1-6 RF27 WIPX Bloomington IN (426 miles)
42.1-5 RF42 WCLJ Bloomington IN
4.1-3 RF48 WTTV Bloomington IN

Then at 11:20am WCPO22 from Cincinnati came in along with:

30.1-3 RF21 WUXP Nashville TN (617 miles)

I took a picture of WUXP in my channel list after it left: http://i.imgur.com/PyJPIFH.jpg
Now I'm up to 185 digital transmitters (or 184 for RF7-51).

What an amazing day for you!! Did you see that Hepburn ended up getting KOPB from Portland Oregon at over 2000 miles away today? I think, I'd have a heart attack. Makes me wonder how often signals from great distances make appearances but we miss them. I think I need to get a VHF antenna for this hobby.

I now have in OPB on RF31 from Portland Oregon for the last half hour. There is no way, there has to be some kind of mistake. What is going on? I'm posting pics and video on YouTube right away.

Yeah I'm not sure what to say. I didn't think UHF signals could travel that far (Hepburn's UHF record is 822 miles). Also, rabbitears shows all of the RF31 channels that are also VC10-1 are super low powers out west (2.53kW or less) except WAVY out of Virginia state which is 1000kW but is apparently an NBC affiliate.
