The one thing that bothers me is about providers is when they add new channels there usually no advance warning. I understand that they working out contract deals but if they've made a deal before the channel launches is that hard to place it in IPG a week or so before the channel launches saying coming soon or with the launch date giving subs at least advance warning where the channel will be?
IE Disney XD & Junior will be launching in a week or two on most providers, is that hard to put the channel placement in the IPG with the info stating he launch date?
Also would it be that hard for the channel being launched to show short clips of the shows they'll be showing before launch date on those providers picking up the channel a week or so before it actually launches so subs can see what they'll be like?
Disney XD and Junior actually are already showing up on shaw they keep on playing the same video package over and over again and in the guide they both say returns Dec 1
When you ask most providers about why they never release info before it happens, they always say it's for "competitive reasons". I guess they (let's say for example - Cogeco) doesn't want Bell (another example) to know that they are adding something.
Personally, I think it makes no sense. If Cogeco finally adds AMC in HD in a couple of weeks (just a hypothetical example ), wouldn't you want that out ASAP, so you don't have customers saying "Screw this, I'm tired of waiting" and switch over to Bell just for that alone. Some have done that.
They enjoy saying "Watch this webpage for updates" My experience is that the webpage is usually updated almost a week later and not all additions get listed there anyways.
I can't comment on other providers not sure what their policy is on this is, but I know Bell Fibe TV has on one or two times has given advance notice in the IPG. Whether that be done more in the future, that I can't answer.
And you just happen to stumble upon it if you go thru the IPG. How are they going to sell channels but not telling subs in advance of where the channel is. Ethnic services are prime example!!!
I mean its not Rocket Science, a week or so before the channel launches(assuming you have a contract signed to carry such said channel(s)) you simplely have it in the IPG, stating the date it'll launch. Is
You don't have to worry about new channels if you have Bell Satellite. You only have to worry about losing some of the old channels and the monthly fee increasing.
Rogers took away Teletoon West to add Disney XD today. I've tweeted to @RogersHelps mutiple times adding a "Free Preview" & "New Channels" to the EPG under "Settings" > "TV" would b helpful. Better than having "PPV Purchases", which I rarely use.
Teletoon West has been moved to channel 144 on Rogers next to the new Family West channel located on channel 143 and YTV West has been on channel 142 since the launch of Disney Channel.Just posted this in the Disney Channel thread. Been going to these new channel numbers all day.
Bell TV (sat.) has two SD channels on their system that identifies new channels and channels on preview. It is usually updated once a month. For some weird reason the preview channel usually plays music while the new channels channel (got that?) is silent.
