It's been 2 days, I've had all my HD channels with no lost satelitte signal message. I think by changing the LNBF to the new XKu LNB on the dish has rectified the problem!

You need a hit from Shaw Direct to get the correct time. You can get it on their website In the bottom of the Self Serve area (after you log in) or from the automated phone system. There is an option to refresh your receivers without waiting to speak to anyone.

You don't set the clock yourself . Shaw Direct does that by sending time in UTC, and to your receiver an offset from that establish your local time. If you have a legitimate account, it should be set based on the registered location of the account.

DSR 600 pvr capable

Hi, I had an installer here yesterday to install a new line for the new PVR and upgrade the LNB. We were talking, and he mentioned that you can use the DSR 600 has a 1 tuner pvr by plugging an external hard drive into it. Anyone able to confirm or deny this? I have not yet tried it.

I believe I read in their twitter feed that they have no plans to enable this feature on the 600 or 605.

Has anyone tried plugging their eSata HDD into a 600? I'd love to know if it'll work.

The 600 doesn't have eSATA, only USB, Network, HDMI, and serial port.

If the receiver is supposed to support USB HDD, I'd like to know how.

Does not work. They're talking about launching the ability on a 605, but that's even iffy at this point. As of now, the 630 is the only receiver capable of an external HDD via eSATA.

I've talked to a few inside sources and they say that the 700 series is set to launch this coming winter. The 700 series will introduce a whole-home PVR system with a head unit and slave units. This will ship with eSATA capabilities on the head unit, which I believe is still going to be restricted to 2TB and less.

If anything, they'll keep the eSATA capabilities strictly for the 630, as opening it up on the 600 and 605 will hamper sales for the 700 series.

Just my two cents.

As Shaw Direct is no longer selling the 605 I doubt any work is happening on bringing external DVR capabilities and as I said before in the ShawDirect_News twitter feed they stated they had no intention of allowing recording to an external drive on the 600/605's.

If past history means anything, if there is a 7xx series whole home PVR system in the works....all developement and software upgrades to 6xx series is pretty much done for. They stopped the 5xx upgrades the moment the 6xx were released.

I don't have any exact launch dates, but a reputable source within Shaw has given a Winter 2013 as the roll-out time for the 700-series whole-home PVR system. No exact details were given, as he knows that's enough to make me drool.

If their first estimated release date of anything isn't at least a year and a half ( or more) premature, it will be a first!

If the truth were known, I bet the 605 already supports an external HD if Shaw would allow it in the software. Remember Shaw does not do what is best for the customer, but rather what makes the most profit for the company.
