Not certain if they can be used on Shaw but the on first and dish can be used for FTA.

I think with Shaw you have to tell them the type of on first, so the channel map is correct, sure someone will confirm or correct me pretty soon.

Shaw has to be aware that you are using that old crappy dish/pop can LNBs so they can set the correct "v-code". BTW why are you using a dish that was replaced well over a decade ago!?! Account stacking perhaps huh huh? Give Shaw a call and they will send out a new dish or buy one online from a 3rd party if you're account stacking.

PS only one vcode can be set per account

60E vs 75E

Shawdirect has 2 sizes of dishes, namely the 60E and the 75E. They also have 2 different LNBF's, namely the 60E and the 75E.

This does not make any sense to me. What is different about these 2 LNBF"s that they can only be used with their respective dishes?

I can take virtually any DSS circular LNB and use it on most Bell,DN, or DTV dishes from 18 inches to 36 inches. In the FTA world an LNBF will work on a 30 inch offset dish or a 6 foot offset dish.

Thanks

I always thought it was to do with the focusing of the signals into the LNBF's.

Quick question regarding Shaw Direct

Is it safe to buy a dish and a "HDPVR 630" off kijiji for $200 remotes included and do the install ourselves? or would it be best for us to call up Shaw Direct and get them to do it instead? We have NO existing services with Shaw and we want this out for the lake.

Thanks,

The simple answer is do you know how to install the system yourself, if you do not then get shaw to do it. as far as buying from Kijiji should not be a issue, but any new subscribers you usually get the receiver for free and install. Check at shaw web site
