Telus reports fourth quarter results
Telus Corporation has reported its financial results and subscriber counts for the fourth quarter of 2009.
The company reported operating revenues of $2.4 billion for the quarter, down 0.4% from the same quarter a year earlier, while net income plummeted a whopping 45.3% in the quarter to $156 million, down from $285 million in same period a year earlier.
Shaw announces new long distance rates for Asia
Shaw today announced new long distance telephone rates for digital phone customers calling China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Under the new Asia Unlimited Calling Plan, residential phone customers can now make unlimited calls to landline and mobile numbers in China, Hong Kong and Singapore, and to landline numbers in Taiwan for $6.95 per month.
Average Bell Mobility customer spends $51 a month
The average Bell Mobility customer spent $51.08 a month on wireless services in the fourth quarter of 2009 according to figures published today by Bell.
By the end of the October to December period, the company had 6,833,000 wireless customers which consisted of 1,792,000 pre-paid customers and 5,041,000 post paid customers.
Revenues at Bell Canada Enterprises up 3.9%
Bell Canada Enterprises (BCE), Canada’s largest communications company, today reported financial results for the fourth quarter of 2009.
BCE, which includes Bell Canada, Bell Aliant, Telesat, Virgin Mobile, and the Source, reported a 3.9% increase in operating revenues and 12.8% increase in operating income, when compared to the same quarter in 2008, thanks to strong growth in the number of wireless and TV customers.
Cogeco tops 300,000 landline telephone customers
Financial results released by Cogeco today reveal the company had 302,249 Digital telephone subscribers at the end of November 2009.
