To celebrate the return of baseball, Sirius XM has announced that beginning Friday, March 5, MLB Home Plate and Mad Dog Radio will broadcast from 30 Major League Baseball Spring Training sites in three weeks.

Competing bid for Canwest emerges

A second bid for the broadcast division of a restructured Canwest Gobal Communications has emerged today. The bid comes one week after Shaw Communications made a $65 million dollar for 20 per cent of the company and 80 per cent of the voting shares.

The second bid comes from a group led by Toronto based equity fund group Catalyst Capital who are said to be offering offered C$120 million for 32% equity interest and voting control in a restructured Canwest.

Super Bowl XLIV will be the 44th annual edition of the Super Bowl and will be played on February 7, 2010 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

“The Who Channel”, a five day limited run channel featuring music from iconic rock band debuts this Thursday on Sirius and XM Satellite radio.

Canadian Blast concert airs live on Sirius tonight

Sirius Canada announced today it would be broadcasting Canadian Blast, a live concert from the Official Residence for Canada in Los Angeles.

The concert, which honours Canadian artists nominated for the 2010 Grammy Awards, will feature live performances from Canadian artists Hey Rosetta!, K’NAAN, and Dan Mangan.

Sirius Canada hikes prices to cover new Royalty fees

Sirius Canada announced yesterday that a Canadian music Royalty Fee of 6% will be introduced to all Sirius Canada satellite radio subscriptions effective March 1, 2010.

The fee which has been mandated by the Copyright Board of Canada, will add ninety cents a month to the current $14.99 a month subscription fee.
