WFN, MusiquePlus HD and MusiMax HD added to Videotron line-up
Videotron, Quebec’s largest cable company, today the WFN: World Fishing Network, MusiquePlus HD and MusiMax HD to its channel lineup starting today.
WFN is available on channel 57 with a free preview until November 30th. Beginning December 1st, it will be offered as part of the Custom, Mega and Sport packages, or à la carte.
Cable Cable signs on to carry Sportsnet One
Cable Cable, a small cable company based out of Fenelon Falls Ontario, says it has reached an understanding with Rogers Media carry to Sportsnet One.
The company, which provides service to about 4,000 homes, becomes the first and only broadcast distributor, outside of Rogers themselves, to carry the new Sports specialty channel.
Jays audience on Sportsnet One down 94%
According to BBM Canada Audience figures, a minuscule 31,000 Canadians watched the Toronto Blue Jays play the Los Angeles Angels on Rogers new SportsNet One television station this past weekend.
That number was 94% lower than the more than 480,000 Canadians who tuned into the Jays versus Angels games on existing Sportsnet regional stations on Friday and Sunday.
One in five Canadians own a PVR
According to a July 2010 survey conducted on behalf of the Television Bureau of Canada, 64 percent of Canadians subscribe to digital television (DTV) and 38 percent of DTV subscribers own a personal video recorder (PVR). Among all Canadian adults, approximately one in five (20%) now own a PVR.
The survey, which polled 1,000 people, also found that five out of six (86%) of PVR owners used the devices to record and view programs at a later time or date.
Samsung rolls out premium 3D HDTV series
First shown at CES in January of this year, Samsung this week announced the Canadian launch of its new 9000 premium series of 3D ready LCD HD televisions.
Features of the sets include: super slim panel (less than 8 millimetres thick); stainless steel metal chassis; edge lit LED lighting; 1920 x 1080p resolution; quadruple frame rate (240 Hz); Samsung’s HyperReal video processing engine; Internet connectivity DLNA certification and four HDMI inputs.
LG Electronics unveils 3D line-up
LG Electronics today announced the imminent arrival in stores of a suite of 3D technology products which includes its new “Infinia” LED HDTVs along with its first 3D-capable Network Blu-ray Disc player and 3D active shutter glasses.
Available in 47- and 55-inch versions, the less expensive Infinia LX 6500 series of LCD HDTVs is available now while the more expensive LX9500 series of HDTVs will be in stores later this month.
China expected to have 30 million HD subscribers by end of 2012
Cogo Group, an embedded solutions and software provider for the technology and industrial sectors in China, said today there are now over two million HD subscribers in China.
The company says a combination of strong consumer demand and aggressive roll-out schedules are helping to fuel this growth and based on current projections, Cogo expects HDTV subscribers in China to 6 million by the end of 2010.
How to watch the World Cup finals in 3D
Telus, Shaw Direct and Rogers have all announced they will broadcast the final two games of the 2010 World Cup Soccer Championship in side-by-side 3D.
The 3D match for third place will air on Saturday, July 10 at 2:30 pm ET while the championship match airs on Sunday, July 11 at 2:30 pm ET.
