Denon receivers now Windows 7 Compatible

Denon Electronics said Monday four of its higher end A/V receivers and its two networked iPod docks are now compatible with Microsoft Windows 7 after passing various Microsoft compatibility tests.

New Onkyo A/V Receivers support HDMI 1.4

Onkyo has announced March deliveries of its first 3D-Ready home theater receivers and home theater in a box (HTiB) systems which support the new HDMI v1.4 connectivity standard for new 3D video displays.

In addition to being 3D Ready, the new devices feature the ability to decode lossless Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio bitstreams, a new onscreen graphical display that lets the user watch the program in the background while using the function menu and “HDMI Thru” which allows content to pass through to the TV when the receiver is in a standby state.

HDMI v1.4a Specification for 3DTV announced

HDMI Licensing, LLC, the group responsible for overseeing the HDMI standard, announced this week the release of specification version HDMI 1.4a featuring key enhancements for 3DTV.

Pioneer 3D ready A/V receivers coming in April

Pioneer Electronics has announced two new 5.1 channel A/V receivers which feature 110 watts per channel of amplification, HDMI 1.4 for 3D support, and Dolby Pro Logic IIz processing.

The Pioneer VSX-520 and VSX-820 are finished in glossy black will be available later this month in the United States for $229 and $299, and next month in Canada for $329 and $449 respectively.

Sony announces first 3D compatible A/V Receiver

In January at CES in Las Vegas many consumer electronics were proudly showing off 3D HDTVs and discussing how 3D would be the future of television.

Yamaha iPhone app controls your A/V receiver

Yamaha has released the Receiver Control App for iPhone and iPod Touch, a free application that enables users to control the most-used functions of its network receivers.

Version 1.0 of the app can be used with the Yamaha RX-V2065, RX-Z7 and RX-V3900 A/V receiver along with the DSP-Z7 amplifier.

Version numbers to be banned on HDMI cables

HDMI Licensing, LLC, the group responsible for overseeing the HDMI standard, this week announced specific new requirements for manufacturers, distributors, and retailers regarding the use of version numbers and marketing for HDMI cables.

The biggest surprise was that HDMI version numbers will not allowed in the labeling, packaging, or promotion of any HDMI v1.4 cable.
