Gmail gets a Priority Inbox

To help Gmail users deal with a plethora of email flooding their inboxes, Google has announced that beginning next week, it will introduce Priority Inbox, an experimental new way of taking on information overload in Gmail.

In addition to sending Junk mail to the Spam filter, Gmail will now split your inbox into three sections: “Important and unread,” “Starred” and “Everything else.”

Air Video update provides VOB support

The latest version of Air Video, software that enables users to stream video from their PC or Mac to their iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad, has just been released.

Both a MAC and Windows version of the Air Video server software is now available from the developers website while the iOS app is still awaiting approval from Apple.

Madden NFL 2011 now availabe for iPad

Electronic Arts announced today that its popular Madden NFL video game franchise now includes an Apple iPad version.

Starting today, Madden NFL 11 for the iPad is available from the Canadian iTunes app store for $12.99. An iPhone and iPod Touch version is also available for $7.99.

iPhone app lets Optik TV customers create recordings remotely

Starting tomorrow, Telus will begin offering Optik TV customers the ability to schedule recordings and manage their PVRs library of shows from their iPhone or a web browser.

In addition, to managing recording, the iPhone app and web interface allows Telus TV to view and search the interactive programming guide from anywhere in the world where they have internet or 3G connectivity.

Google Wave shutting down

In a blog posting on the official Google Blog, the company has announced that it is shutting down Google Wave, a real time web communications and collaboration application which the company released last year.

Despite many unique features and positive feedback from developers, the number of people using Google Wave failed to live up to the company’s expectations.

Score Media releases free iPad Sports app

Score Media has launched a free new sports app designed for the Apple iPad.

The broadcaster says its “TheScore iPad Edition” features news, scores, stats and standings from every major sports league plus video and audio content from the company’s Television, Radio and web properties.

Office 2011 for Mac coming in October

The Microsoft Business Unit (MacBU) announced this week that Microsoft Office for Mac 2011, a productivity suite that includes applications such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook and Messenger for Mac.

Microsoft will offer three editions of the new Office for Mac suite: Home & Student Edition, Home & Business Edition and Academic Edition

Futureshop announces Midnight Madness for StarCraft II

StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty video, a futuristic real time strategy video game from Blizzard Entertainment, and sequel to the award-winning 1998 video game StarCraft goes on sale worldwide next Tuesday July 27th.

To get a jump on its retail competitors, Futureshop has announced it will be holding a Midnight Madness event at all stores across Canada (except in Sudbury Ontario and Quebec) at midnight on Monday, July 26th.
