Score Media has launched a free new sports app designed for the Apple iPad.

The broadcaster says its “TheScore iPad Edition” features news, scores, stats and standings from every major sports league plus video and audio content from the company’s Television, Radio and web properties.

GoFlex NAS provides centralized wireless backup

Seagate today launched GoFlex, a line of Network Attached Storage (NAS) devices which connect to a home networks router and enables users to continuously back up files from multiple computers via a wired or wireless connection.

The NAS device comes with Memeo backup software and allows up to three computers to continuously backup data. Mac users can backup their data to the device using either Memeo or Apple Time Machine.

Lenovo delivers its first 3D laptop

The buzzword in consumer electronics this year is 3D and Lenovo has added its voice to the buzz by introducing the Lenovo IdeaPad Y560d, the company’s first multimedia laptop with a 3D display.

The move follows companies such as MSI and ASUS which debuted 3-D PCs at the Computex trade show in Taiwan last month.

Apple offers free fix for faulty time capsules

Apple customers who purchased a defective Time Capsule between approximately February 2008 and June 2008 may be eligible for free repair or replacement according to an updated Apple support document.

The Time Capsule, introduced in 2008 and marketed by Apple as a “Backup Appliance”, is a wireless network-attached storage device which lets Mac Owners perform automated back-ups.

Canadians technology spending down in first four months of 2010

Canadians spent nearly $3.2 billion on technology products in the first four months of 2010, down two per cent from the previous year, according to a recent report from The NPD Group.

Researchers say revenues exhibited growth in the information technology (IT) segment, while consumer electronics remained almost flat and video games experienced a sharp decline. Revenues in the small domestic appliance (SDA) segment, an extension of the technology industry, also remained flat during the period.

Second Gen Flip MinoHD Camcorder coming in July

Cisco has announced the second generation of its popular Flip MinoHD camcorder is now scheduled to arrive in Canada during the middle of July.

The updated camcorder has a slightly more rounded design than its predecessor, responsive touch-sensitive buttons, and a durable brushed metal finish.

eMachines introduces Mini-e nettop computer

Hoping to cash in on increasing demand for small form nettop computers which can be used primarily in the home theatre, emachines today introduced the Mini-e Home Entertainment Center.

Similar to the popular Acer Revo, the Mini-e is about the size, weight and thickness of a small book. It features a glossy black diamond shaped chassis mounted on a matte silver pedestal while emitting a soft ambient green glow along the lower edge.
