Amazon Fire Tablets Are Now Available in Canada

We’ve been waiting a while and they’re finally here.

This week, Amazon Canada announced its Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 tablets are now available to Canadians on Amazon.ca. What does this mean? You now have more options to choose from when it comes to getting a quality, durable tablet at a low price.

Here is what you should know about both the Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 tablets.

Features That Apply to Both Tablets:

Both tablets share qualities that make them solid sellers on Amazon. Here’s what they share:
• A quad-core 1.3 GHz processor
• Durability: Amazon measured the toughness of these tablets in “tumble tests” and the findings might surprise you. Both the Fire 7 and Fire HD 8 were found to be more durable than the latest generation iPad.
• Front- and rear-facing cameras: These come with unlimited cloud storage for all photos taken on Fire devices.
• Fast Wi-Fi connectivity and dual-band Wi-Fi support
• Amazon-exclusive features such as ASAP, X-Ray, Second Screen, Whispersync, Blue Shade and Prime Video downloads
• The chance for users to enjoy content through Prime Music and Prime Video with millions of books, games, and apps, as well as over a million songs, movies and TV shows.

How the tablets differ:

Not everything is entirely the same on these devices. They do differ and here’s how:

Price

The Fire 7 can be had for $59.99. The Fire HD 8 is more expensive, although still affordable, clocking in at $99.99.

Physical Size

The Fire 7 tablet is thin with a 7-inch IPS display. Unsurprisingly, the HD 8 is an 8-inch tablet, and operates a tad more quickly than #7.

Available Storage

Fire 7: 8 GB of storage with support for up to 256 GB of expandable storage.

Fire HD 8: 16 GB of storage with support for up to 256 GB more.

Battery Life

The Fire 7 has an 8-hour battery life, whereas the Fire HD 8 comes with 12 hours of continuous battery.
