5 Most Affordable Internet Packages in Quebec

Get the best for less in Quebec.

As the second most populated province in Canada and a home to many of our friends en français, Quebec is a glorious part of the country. Tradition, forest, rivers and a vibrant culture set it apart. It’s also the site of some great Internet deals.

Here are 5 of the most affordable Internet packages now available in Quebec:

1) Videotron $37.95 (for the first 12 months)

Videotron’s Hybrid Fibre 5 package gives users 25 GB of data per month, as well as download speeds of 5 Mbps and uploads of 1 Mbps. The company says the data will cover 25 movies in HD, 250 songs, 50 hours of radio programming and 50 hours of online surfing.

FYI, the price is an offer that applies to the first 12 months and after that, it goes up to $42.95/month.

2) V Media $20/month

V Media’s DSL 6 high speed Internet is useful for those who wish to do some emailing, Internet searches, and general surfing every month. If you want to stream videos often, you’ll need something heftier, but for simple Internet use, this could keep you covered.

With it, you get unlimited monthly data, download speeds of 6 Mbps, and upload speeds of 800 Kbps.

As a heads up, additional costs include a $65 installation fee, (it’s waived if you’re simply switching from a V Media cable plan, but applies otherwise), and a Dry Loop fee of $8/month for those without an existing Bell home phone line.

There’s also a fee for the modem, as usual, which is $9/month or $110 upfront. So, your monthly costs are closer to $40/month but the whole deal is still under $50, which is a bonus.

3) Acanac $30/Month

Acanac is based in Toronto, and owned by Distributel. The company is offering users two Internet packages for around $30/month. The first comes with unlimited data, download speeds of 10 Mbps, and uploads of 1 Mbps. The modem will run you $10/month, or $100 up front, and the activation fee is free.

The second package comes with 175 GB of data/month, faster download speeds of 15 Mbps, and uploads of 1 Mbps. The same extras apply.

4) Ebox $26.95/Month

Ebox is headquartered in Longueuil, Quebec, and forms the largest independent cable internet provider in the province.

The company’s Cable Basic package comes with 100 GB of monthly data, download speeds of 5 Mbps and upload of 1Mbps. You can upgrade to 250 GB/month for a few dollars more, or go for unlimited for $36.95/month.

5) TekSavvy

High Speed DSL $25.95/month

Tek Savvy’s high speed DSL 6 Internet comes with 200 GB of monthly data, download speeds of 6 Mbps and uploads of 800 Kbps. There’s a dry loop fee of $5/month, a modem fee of $120 upfront or$10/month for 12 months, and the choice of an IP address for about $4/month.

Cable Internet $27.95/month

Tek Savvy’s Cable 5 Internet comes with 200 GB of monthly data, upload speeds of 5 Mbps and downloads of 1 Mbps. The modem is a little less than it is with high speed DSL, at $99.95 upfront or $8.32/month. There’s a $50 activation fee, and you can also enjoy unlimited downloads for all cable Internet customers between 2 a.m and 8 a.m.
