4 Best Portable Everyday Power Sources

Portable power is easy to get and to carry around with these popular solutions that can keep you going for days at a time.

Our devices often travel with us wherever we need to go. Whether it’s to the other side of the coffee shop because there’s no place else to sit, on the road for meetings or on the plane, the workplace has stretched in geography and time. With it comes the need for reliable portable power supplies.

If you’re looking for a power supply that can come with you on the trail and into the backwoods, you’ll need something else besides those listed below. There are some interesting and amazing power supplies that use the energy of water, oxygen, fire and hand cranking to keep you hooked up, as detailed at backpacker.com.

For everyday use though, when you’re moving from building to building, office to office, onto the plane and around the coffee shop, here are some of the best portable electronic power sources, to keep you up and running when you need it.

1) ChargeTech Portable Power Outlet

Rated as the top portable power choice by Wirecutter.com, ChargeTech’s device gives you reliable power for about a day. It’s not going to power up multiple devices over and over, but it should be able to give you enough juice to get your portable electronics powered up for one extra work session.

It weighs about 2 pounds and is said to be good for charging a tablet, a small laptop a few times, or a large one once and is about the size of a small hardcover book. You get a good bang for your buck with this one, and don’t have to lug around a great big, heavy ball and chain to take advantage of its power.

2) Anker PowerCore

Said to weigh as little as a soup can, the Anker PowerCore 20100 can keep you going for days. It can charge an iPhone 6 seven times over, a Galaxy S6 five times and an iPad mini twice. So, no excuses now, basically.

According to its product description, this portable device is compatible with the new 12 inch MacBook, 2015, Apple and Android smartphones, tablets (including the Nexus 7) and other USB-charged devices except for the iPod nano, iPod Classic, HP TouchPad, Dell Venue 11 Pro, Asus tablets and some GPS and Bluetooth devices.

3) RAVPower Portable charger

Portable power sources make it possible to stay connected while away.

If all you need to do is charge up your phone, the RAVPower portable charger will get the job done. The product description claims this device will “charge your iPhone 7 about 8 times, iPhone 7 plus over 5 times, iPhone 6s up to 9 times, a Galaxy S7 up to 5 times, or an iPad Mini more than 3 times.”

Affordable and useful.

4) Poweradd Charger

For half the price of the RAV charger above, the Poweradd portable charger will provide 4 solid charges to an iPhone 6s, 2.5 charges to a Galaxy S6, and half a charge for an iPad Mini. It won’t do all of these, but one of the options can be completed before needing to charge the power source up again.
