Bell Media Announces 8 New Series Coming to Canadian Screens in 2016/17

Today, Bell Media confirmed its leading slate of new and returning original entertainment programming for the 2016/17 broadcast year in advance of the #CTVUpfront presentation in Toronto.

Included in the roster are eight new series, covering drama, comedy and factual programming.

Beaverton_Sketch_004New series for the 2016/17 season include the murder mystery drama CARDINAL (CTV), Discovery’s first-ever scripted original series, FRONTIER (Discovery), and a new serialized mystery drama, THE DISAPPEARANCE (CTV) about the vanishing of a 10-year-old boy.

In the comedy category, the fish-out-of-water dramedy from Crave TV RUSSELL PETERS IS THE INDIAN DETECTIVE (CTV) will debut, as well as THE BEAVERTON (The Comedy Network), a satirical new series based on the enormously popular Canadian website.

New fact-based series will include HEAVY RESCUE: 401 (Winter 2017) (Discovery) from the producers of HIGHWAY THRU HELL, and TOUGHER THAN IT LOOKS, plus new original programming for Bell Media’s new food and lifestyle channel, Gusto, among others, states Bell Media.
