SVOD service Shomi launches today across Canada
Rogers and Shaw are today launching their much-talked-about joint venture subscription video streaming service, Shomi.
Eligible Shaw and Rogers customers can also sign up and get a 30-day free trial, which is a great way to check out whether Shomi will live up to the hype the two companies have been trying generate in the lead up to its launch. The cost will increase to $8.99 a month once the trial period expires.
And good news if you’ve got a Rogers Hybrid Fibre 50 and 60 or Extreme Internet subscription: you’ll get a complimentary Shomi pass until March 31, 2015.
Shomi is pitting itself directly against Netflix in the battle for your streaming dollars. In September, they announced a deal with FX and Fox that will give Canadians exclusive streaming access to the likes American Horror Story, Sons of Anarchy, Modern Family and New Girl.
If you’re a Rogers or Shaw customer and want to determine whether you’re eligible to sign up for a trial of Shomi, you can visit their website.
