Bell Mobility Wins Tim Hortons WiFi Contract
At least 90 percent of the restaurants in Canada will have the free high-speed WiFi service by the time students head back-to-school, noted the coffee giant.
Testing of the service began six months ago at a few Toronto restaurants plus locations in Kelowna, B.C., Red Deer, AB, St. Catharines, ON, and Barrie, ON. Bell Mobility’s service tested best.
“We tested different scenarios with different providers just to see what kinds of options would be best for us. We wanted to go obviously with a national provider that would be able to service all of our restaurants. Bell came out a winner,” said Alexandra Cygal, manager of public affairs, in a National Post report.
The list of other wireless providers vying for the contract was not disclosed.
Cygal, however, added that non-traditional locations such as gas station kiosks and outlets in hospitals would not be part of the September WiFi roll-out.
