Hydro One Adds Power Outage App

Hydro One wants you to stay on top of power outages in your area and a free mobile app helps you do just that.

Compatible with iPhone, Android and BlackBerry devices, Hydro One is the first Canadian utility to offer customers a free, downloadable outage tracking app.

Laura Formusa, President and CEO of Hydro One sums it up: “Hydro One customers asked for this capability and we listened. By giving customers mobile access to check on power outages, we give them the information they need in a way they want to receive it.”

The app provides an interactive outage map, which is updated every  15 minutes. The map, searchable by address, displays both planned and unplanned outages. More importantly, if there is a power outage, crew status, estimated time of power restoration and cause, if known, will be  displayed.

Also, the latest news from Hydro One will be delivered directly to your mobile device. To download the app, just search “Hydro One” on your smartphone or tablet’s application store. Further information is available at www.HydroOne.com.

Being able to check your electricity usage from the app would have been more preferred then being able to see an outage. I use that feature a lot more then checking an outage! Using safari on the iPhone to check usage is a pain! Give us an app for that or add the feature to this app please!
