Rumour: Wind Mobile in talks to acquire Mobilicity
Bloomberg news is reporting today that Globalive Communications, owners of Wind Mobile, are in talks to buy Mobilicity.
Privately held Mobilicity currently offers wireless service in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver while Wind Mobile offers service iin the following markets across Canada: Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa, Hamilton, Kitchener / Waterloo, London, St. Catharines-Niagara and Toronto.
The publicly owned Wind Mobile reported 358,000 wireless subscribers as of September 30th. Because Mobilicity is privately owned, the number of subscribers is not known, however, Mobilicity is believed to have about half the number of subscribers as Wind Mobile.
The two companies both began business in 2009 and use compatible wireless frequencies. This would make a merger much easier since Mobilicity users could continue to use their existing devices on the Wind Mobile network and the cost of integrating the two networks would be much lower.
The Bloomberg report did not provide any specifics about the deal, simply citing an unnamed source.

Do not forget that Wind is also in London Ontairo. Just came last week.
Thanks. updated.
Winds customer service is hideous! Mobilicity has been doing very well out in Vancouver. Many people switched from Wind to Mobilicity, so this is bad news for the Wind haters. Swallow your competition so you don’t have to compete!
