Sony’s first tablet arrives mid-September in Canada
Sony Canada this week announced that its first tablet computer, the Android-powered Sony Tablet S will be available in Canada in the middle of September.
First announced in April as the Tablet S1, the S Honeycomb tablet features 9.4-inch touchscreen display with 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, NVIDIA Tegra 2 CPU processor, 1GB of RAM, and front and rear facing cameras.
Sony will offer a 16GB and 32GB version for $500 and $600 respectively. Connectivity includes the usual WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, together with USB and a headphone socket.
Reviews of the new device have been mixed. Gizmodo called it “the best Android tablet since the Samsung Galaxy 10.1″ praising its design but complaining it was too expensive given its build quality. Engadget also gave the device mixed reviews, complaining about the “flimsy fee of the device” while praising its wedge design.
