Rogers Cable dropping popular HD channel
In a notice to its Digital Cable customers Rogers Cable has announced that, effective November 1st, it will no longer offer HDNet.
Rogers is the second major Canadian distributor to drop HDNet from its line-up in the last year. Bell Satellite removed HDNet from its offerings last December after a contract dispute between the two firms.
Rogers did not provide its customers with any rationale for why it was dropping the U.S. general interest television channel from its HD Specialty and HD Nature Themes pack.
HDNet, which has been broadcasting exclusively in high-definition since 2001, is still available in Rogers territory from Shaw Direct.

I’m sure my cable bill will reflect this loss of service. lol
It’s one of the few good channels on TV, quite a loss to drop that channel…
i’m sure Shaw cable and direct will drop when there contact ends. maybe Mark Cuban wants to much money? Who knows?
Oh no! I am going to miss this channel. Used to love the Ultimate Trailer Show (which was cancelled) but still love many other shows. Rick Steve’s Europe, other travel shows, movies (this week was Superman I and II), Dan Rather Reports, Nothing But Trailers, Drinking Made Easy, and of course MMA, Get Out, and GGW.
I’d say I watch this channel more than the Big Four American networks.
Unfortunate news.
This sucks…HDNET has the best shows ever…
Long Live Art Mann!
I am devastated! My Friday nights of MMA are done. So depressed right now. What do I have to do to watch Inside MMA now? Illegally download it? Come on!!!!
what a pain in the neck saturday will no longer be the same without dan rather reports playing at noon this is one of the best and informative reporting shows on tv i will miss it badly no lowering of my rogers bill i suppose …
This is terrible. I love HDNet. Inside MMA is one of my must see shows of the week.
… and my list of reasons for maintaining cable gets shorter. Last nail in coffin?
This is a great channel, an oddball variety of programming similar to what CityTV was in the ’70′s, and the only true, fully HD channel I’m aware of. This has been the channel I point to when people ask me, “why get HD?”. Whatever the contract dispute, whatever HDNet is asking, they should just pay it.
