Shaw Direct announces new entry level HD satellite receiver

Shaw Direct, Canada’s second largest Direct-to-home (DTH) satellite television provider, has a new entry level high definition (HD) satellite receiver to its line-up.

The HDDSR600, which will replace the DSR 209 satellite receiver, is a stripped down, smaller, cheaper version of the HDDSR 605 receiver which Shaw Direct introduced last fall.

Like the HDDSR 605, the HDDSR600 features MPEG-4 and 3DTV capability, a 14 day on-screen guide with an option to hide the channels you don’t subscribe to; picture in guide; a USB port on the front panel, HDMI connectivity; composite analog video out; digital audio out; detachable power supply, and an Ethernet port for future services such as set-top Video On demand and 1080p broadcasts.

Features found on the HDDSR 605 that are missing from the HDDSR 600 include: component video output; eSata port for potential hard drive add-on; optical and coaxial output; and UHF Remote capability.

Shaw Direct HDDSR600 - $100 beginning July 4th

The DSR600 will sell for $100, half the price of the DSR605 beginning July 4th.

Inside the box you’ll find the receiver, detachable power supply, HDMI cable, RCA cable, Shaw Direct Welcome Guide, and an IRC 600 3-in-1 remote control with batteries and programming instructions.
