Alternate wireless provider Wind Mobile gained 92,960 wireless voice and data subscribers in the fourth quarter of 2010, almost double the gain of 45,799 in the previous quarter.

By the end of the year, the carrier's total retail subscriber base totalled 232,641 making it Canada's sixth largest wireless operator.

Wind, which launched wireless service in Toronto in December of 2009, now offers service to almost eleven million Canadians in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, and Ottawa.

The company markets five voice plans beginning from $15 a month along with three data plans starting at $25 per month.
