Sony Dash now in Canada

Sony Canada last week announced its Dash “personal internet viewer” is now available in Canada for $230.

Featuring a 7-inch colour touch screen, the Dash is an WiFi enabled internet clock radio which can also run 1,000 free tiny Internet widgets including news, calendars, weather, and sports.

Announced at the 2010 CES show in Las Vegas, the Dash is not a portable device, since it does not have an internal battery., rather Sony positioned it as a “personal internet viewer” which can act as an alarm clock, internet radio, digital photo frame and many other uses. Applications can be downloaded and installed onto the device directly from the device or online through a PC from the Dash website.

Additional hardware features include built-in stereo speakers, headphone jack and a USB port for connection to a variety of external electronic devices.

This is pretty useless. I have a alarm clock thank you. With a back up battery in case the power goes out. I also have an internet radio, it’s call my laptop or my Touch. And I can do alot more with it. For a $250 more I can get a Ipad that does alot more.

So instead of this small compact device you would prefer to have you alarm clock, laptop, ipod, and ipad all sitting by your bed running, in the case of the laptop making noise, and using power? Ya your right that is a better option than a small efficient all in one unit.

Why do people call something “usless” just because they are not interested in it? I can think of a dozen people I know who have been waiting for something like this, that is fully supported in Canada.

But can it make coffee? I’m still waiting for a device that does all that plus brew coffee.
