Number of U.S. TV Households climbs by a million
The total number of TV households for the 2010-2011 broadcast season in the U.S. will climb to 115.9 million, an increase of one million homes from last year according to Nielsen.
The ratings giant estimates the number of persons age two and older in those households will increase more than two million to 294.6 million people.
By comparison, Canada last year (this year’s Canadian numbers are not yet available) had 13.6 million television households containing a population of 33.5 million individuals aged 2+. Using the 2009 figures for the U.S. Canada had about 11.8% of the number of TV households found in the U.S. and about 11.4% of the television population.
