Videotron boosts basic internet download speeds
Videotron said today it is increasing download speeds for its Basic Internet service from 1 Mbps to 2.5 Mbps.
Upload speeds and pricing for the basic service remain unchanged.
Despite the relative low cost, readers should note that the basic service has a bandwidth cap of just 3 GB per month. Any data transfer exceeding the 3GB cap will be billed at $7.95 per gigabyte up to a maximum of $50 per month.
The company now offers five levels of Internet service: Basic, High Speed, Ultimate 15, Ultimate 30 and Ultimate 50 ranging in price from $32.95 to $91.95 per month with 12 month and bundle discounts available.
- Basic Internet offers a bandwidth cap of 3GB with upload and download speeds of 400 Kps and 2.5 Mbps respectively. Basic Internet costs $32.95 per month.
- High Speed Internet offers a bandwidth cap of 30GB with upload and download speeds of up to 820 Kbps and 7.5 Mbps respectively. High Speed Internet costs $62.95 per month.
- USI 30 offers a bandwidth cap of 60GB with upload and download speeds of up to 1 Mbps and 30 Mbps respectively. USI 15 costs $64.95 per month.
- USI 30 offers a bandwidth cap of 100GB with upload and download speeds of up to 1 Mbps and 30 Mbps respectively. USI 30 costs $75.95 per month.
- USI 50 offers a bandwidth cap of 125GB with upload and download speeds of up to 1 Mbps and 50 Mbps respectively. USI 50 costs $91.95 per month.
