This Week on Blu-ray (May 25th)

This week is a poor one for Blu-ray disc lovers so there is little for Digital Home to recommend on the new release list.

The most notable, albeit quite depressing, pick on Blu-ray this week is “The Road,” a post apocalyptic drama based on the Pulitzer prize winning novel of the same name by American author Cormac McCarthy.

The film stars Viggo Mortensen and Kodi Smit-McPhee as a father and his son struggling to survive a number of years after an unspecified, devastating cataclysm has destroyed civilization, killed all plant and animal life, and obscured the sun.

The movie, which currently has a 75% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, will likely prove too bleak and depressing for many readers but for those willing to watch, expect to find a well acted and well crafted film.

Lovers of more light hearted and popular movies may wish to keep their credit cards in their wallet this week and enjoy the nice weather.

The following is a list of Blu-ray titles set for release this week. (Canadian readers should note that every effort has been made to confirm these titles will be available in Canada this week, however, actual release dates are subject to change)
