Telus iPad 3G data plan announced

Over the weekend, Telus announced that it has now begun offering a dedicated data plan for the iPad 3G.

While Bell and Rogers offers two thirty day plans- $15 for 250 MB and $35 for 5GB – Telus will offer just one plan.

Telus will charge $20 for 500MB per month with additional data being charged at 5¢ per MB up to a maximum of $30 for a total of $50 per month. Telus customer service personnel tell Digital Home the plan is capped at 5GB’s per month.

Based on data costs only and excluding activation and de-activation fees, the following highlights the cheapest carriers by data usage.

  • 0 to 250 MB – Bell / Rogers for $15
  • 250 to 500 MB – Telus for $20
  • 500 to 800 MB – Telus for $20 plus 5 cents per MB. At 800 MB the Telus plan reaches $35.
  • 800 MB to 5GB – Bell / Rogers $35
