Apple CEO says no to Flash on the iPhone

In an almost 1,700 word missive entitled “Thoughts on Flash” posted on the Apple web site this week, Apple CEO Steve Jobs has described why the company does not support Flash technology on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Young people most susceptible to phishing attacks

The study of 515 Carnegie Mellon University faculty, staff, and students has found that 18-25 year olds were consistently more vulnerable to internet phishing attacks than older participants.

Cogeco buys Corus radio stations in Quebec

Cogeco announced today an agreement with Corus Entertainment Inc. to acquire its eleven Québec radio stations for $80 million in cash, subject to necessary regulatory approvals.

The radio stations include four in Montreal, two in Quebec City and two in Sherbrooke. Cogeco already owns stations in Montreal, Quebec City, Trois-Rivieres and Sherbrooke.

Reality Channel launches on Rogers in July

Canwest Broadcasting announced this week it would be launching the Global Reality Channel on Rogers Cable on July 1st.

No it’s not a channel about the trials and tribulations of the Asper family but it is a station that will air nothing but reality programming from past and present seven days a week, 24 hours a day.

Average U.S. Home has almost three tv’s

New findings from the latest edition of Nielsen’s Television Audience Report The average American home now has 2.93 TV sets per household, up from 2.86 sets per home in 2009, the largest year-over-year increase since 2006.

U.S. retains dubious honour of spam leader

The United States remained the largest source of spam in the world in the first quarter of 2010 according to a recent Sophos report that lists the top 12 spam-relaying countries in the world.

The company reports says United States continues its reign as the king of spam, relaying more than 13% of global spam, accounting for hundreds of millions of junk messages every day.

Profits and revenues continue to increase at Rogers

Rogers Communications Inc. today announced its consolidated financial and operating results for the company’s fiscal first quarter ended March 31, 2010.

For the three months of the year, Rogers reported its overall operating revenues and profits rose 5% and 4% from the first three months of 2009 to $2.89 billion and $1.08 billion respectively. Net income was up 23% to 380 million.

SIRIUS XM Android App coming next month

Subscription satellite radio provider, Sirius XM has announced plans to launch an Android smartphone App for subscribers to go along with its iPhone and Blackberry smartphone apps.

Through the free application, Sirius XM Premium online subscribers can access over 120 stations at no additional charge. Some select programming including NFL Play-by-Play, Nascar Radio, and Howard Stern, is not available.
