Norway’s Opera Software today released version 10.5 of its Opera web browser, which it claims is the fastest Web browser available for Windows computers.

Opera says the improved speed comes from the introduction a new a new JavaScript engine and a new graphics which means reduced load times.

“Opera 10.50 is the fastest browser in almost all speed tests,” said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera. “But, more important than any speed test is the real-world speed during use. We designed Opera 10.50 to be easy to use, while making our unique features stand out, so you can get more out of the Web.”

In addition to being faster the new browser sports a cleaner more sleek design which leaves more screen space for the website you are browsing, provides improved standards support for HTML5 and CSS3, private browsing, support for Aero Peek and Jump Lists in Windows 7 and a new Opera menu button which replaces the traditional menu bar.
