NFL and CTV extend multi-year broadcast deal
The National Football League and CTV have announced a four-year extension of its broadcast partnership which gives the network exclusive Canadian broadcast rights to the NFL championship game through to Super Bowl XLVIII.
Financial details of the deal which covers the 2010 to 2013 NFL seasons were not disclosed.
For the next four years will broadcast the NFL regular season Sunday early afternoon game package at 1 p.m. ET, all NFL playoff games, including the Pro Bowl and the Super Bowl.
“The National Football League’s broadcast package has been a perfect fit on the CTV schedule for the past three years and we are thrilled to be able to extend our partnership with a brand that defines excellence,” said Rick Brace, President, Revenue, Business Planning and Sports, CTV Inc.
CTV says that its regular season and playoff audiences increased substantially in the 2009 season with regular season game audiences up 74% higher than the previous year. Playoff audience numbers should be released later this year but are also expected to be considerably higher.
CTV Globemedia, parent of CTV, also owns the Canadian rights for NFL Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football through TSN.
