Average Rogers Wireless customer spends $63 a month
The average Rogers Wireless customer spent $63.23 a month on wireless services in the fourth quarter of 2009 according to figures published today by Rogers.
The average post-paid customer spent $73.42 a month with Rogers Wireless in the fourth quarter versus just $16.39 per month for pre-paid customers.
By the end of the October to December period, the company had 8,494,000 wireless customers which consisted of 1,515,000 pre-paid customers and 6,979,000 post paid customers.
Other fourth quarter Rogers Wireless facts:
- In terms of usage the average Rogers postpaid user spent just under ten hours on their wireless (588 minutes) per month while the average prepaid users spent about two hours (119 minutes) on their wireless phone.
- Overall churn among wireless customers for the quarter was 1.08%. Churn among pre-paid customers was 2.8% versus 1.08% for post paid customers.
- Wireless data revenue now comprises 24% of Rogers’ network revenue.
- At the end of 2009, smartphones owners now represent 31% of the overall postpaid subscriber base at Rogers, up from 19% from the same quarter last year.
- Smartphone users generate nearly twice the revenue of voice only subscribers.
- Roger Wireless’ operating income for the quarter was $744 million on revenues of $1.73 billion
With 8.5 million wireless customers, Rogers Wireless is Canada’s largest wireless phone provider. Next up is Bell Mobility with 6.83 million customers followed by Telus with 6.52 million subscribers.
