Hamilton’s 95.3 FM intros new on-air line-up

vinyl_95Hamilton’s Vinyl 95.3, a Classic Hits FM radio station in Hamilton, this past Monday introduced a new line-up of on-air personalities.

The new line-up comes six weeks after the station changed formats from Country to classic hits.

Bob Magee and Corrie Miller will host the morning drive Monday to Friday from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. No stranger to the southwestern Ontario radio scene, Magee, a longtime Toronto broadcaster, built his career at 1050 CHUM and was most recently at 98.1 CHFI. Miller hails from Vancouver Y108, and prior to that, spent 10 years at Corus Radio Vancouver with Classic Rock 101 as part of The Bro Jake Show.

John Novak will host the midday time slot from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Novak was part of CKOC’s lineup during the ‘70s and ‘80s when the station was ranked as one of the three biggest Top 40/contemporary hit radio stations in Canada.

Gord James will host the afternoon drive weekdays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. James spent five years at CKOC, predominantly in afternoon drive in the early ‘70s before heading to 1050 CHUM where he spent the next 23 years, seven of those years in morning drive as host of The Morning Show with Gord James and the James Gang.

Derek Rivers will take the evening weekday slot from 7 p.m. to midnight. Rivers comes from Y108 after spending 18 years at radio stations in Thunder Bay, Calgary and Vancouver.

This change sucks, another oldies station great. The only country station left is now gone.

I guess I have to resubscribe to XM. Goodbye Country 95 – you will be missed.

I can’t believe they took away the only country station we had! Not happy about this at all! Guess I’ll have to subscribe to Sirius again or listen to some US stations online. Definitely won’t listening to 95.3 anymore.

  2. Barbara Nielsen says:

It’s so refreshing to hear Bob McGee again. I missed him when he left 98.1. My station is now fixed for 95.3.
    Thanks,

Love Bob McGee and glad he’s back. I missed listening to him when he left 98.1. The music is great and the radio’s are set at 95.3. Thank you.

Was looking for something to listen to and sing along with at work. Q107 ,too much talk not enough rock and too hard for early mornings. K-Lite Fm too candy ass and sugary. You fit the bill quite nicely, now the station of choice at work.

  5. Town Car says:

Love your station, takes me back! Saw the advertisment on T.V. I now listen to 95.3 at home and in the car. I never have to change the station.
