On the Windows Home Server Blog today, Microsoft announced that its long overdue Windows Home Server (WHS) Power Pack 3 (PP3) will be available on November 24, 2009.

Earlier this year members of the Microsoft Home Server had told Digital Home the new update would be available no later than the Windows 7 general availability date of October 22nd.

In late September, citing the need for "the absolute highest level of product quality" the company said that update required additional testing and would not be delivered on time.

Microsoft says Power Pack 3 will install automatically if Automatic Update is enabled on the home server.

New features in Power Pack 3 include Windows 7 libraries integration; ability to suppress backup warnings; ability to configure a Windows 7 computer running Windows 7 to wake up at a scheduled backup time and then go back to sleep after the backup finishes; support for files encrypted with EGS and console view which lets users view information about your home server’s storage space, hard drives, backup status, and more from Windows Media Center.
