This Week on Blu-ray
This week is the weakest for Blu-ray releases since the dog days of summer so Digital Home has no recommendations for our readers this week.
Perhaps the only movie worth considering this week is Angel Heart, a 1987 mystery-thriller film written and directed by Alan Parker, and starring Mickey Rourke, Robert De Niro and Lisa Bonet.
Angel Heart combines elements of film noir, hard-boiled detective stories and horror. The movie gained attention and controversy even before its release when it was learned that Bonet, previously known for her role on the family-oriented sitcom The Cosby Show, was part of graphic and blood-drenched sex scene with Rourke that had to be trimmed in order to secure the film an ‘R’ rating on initial release. The movie currently has a 76% rating on the Rotten Tomatoes movie site.
Other releases this week, which are likely rental only, include: “Angels & Demons”, the sequel to The Da Vinci Code, starring Tom Hanks and “Shorts”, a science fiction fantasy film designed for the under twelve demographic.
