Bell Mobility rumoured to be ending System Access Fee
The Mobile Ninjas website is reporting today that Bell Mobility will be eliminating its system access fee from all existing postpaid plans.
The website cites an internal Bell memo which says the company would be dropping the $6.95 system access fee (SAF) this Friday November 20th.
Dropping the SAF fee should come as no surprise after Rogers Wireless dropped its access fee in October while Telus dropped its fee on November 5th.
In its place, Rogers increased the base price of all plans by $5 a month and introduced a new Government Regulatory fee which varies based on government fees in the province customers live. Telus simply raised plan pricing by $5 a month and added free voicemail.
The result was most Rogers customers paid about the same or slightly more under the new plan while Telus customers paid several dollars less a month.
No word from the Ninja’s on how Bell’s postpaid plans pricing will be affected by the move.

And one more thing. I think these companies are getting sued over the system access fee being illegal. So they’re just getting away with it essentially saying “okay, we’ll remove the system access fee, but raise the price of everything else so that we make roughly the same”. While Rogers is actually making more!
Very frustrating.
How do I completely get out of this plan as I do not need it when does the contract end?????
sme request need to get out of this plaqn!!!!
We got out of our Bell Mobility family plan when it expired. Even after the contract expires, you need to give them 30 days notice. You can call… dare I say it… ‘Customer Support’ and they should be able to tell you when your contract expires… I told my kids (both in their 20′s now) they are on their own for cellphones from now on and my wife switched to SearsConnect.ca for her cellphone. Her bill went from around $40 per month on Bell Mobility (3 yr contract) to $14.95 per month (1 yr contract). No system access fees, no 911 fees and no surprises. We are VERY happy with their service.
It looks like searsCinnect.ca is on the rogers network, if you look at there coverage maps they do not cover northern Ontario. it looks like the same map as rogers
I bought a “NEW” Blacberry on contract with Bell — About two weeks later I discovered a whole bunch of appointments scheduled in the phone calendar – I took it back to the store and after a couple of trips to the Bell Store on no.10 Hwy and 152nd St in Surrey, B.C.,they replaced the phone .The Manager refused to replace the phone and wanted to clear all the entries and it was only when I threatened legal action ,she agreed to replace the phone.Initially when I complained the store clerk guaranteed that the phone was new and that the entries had been made to test the phone – just a whole bunch of lies and excuses. . Even their billing needs to be scrutinized carefully.I found several irrelevant charges and when I questioned the items they agreed to delete those charges.
Initially I bought a phone from one of their agents and it turned out to be some cheap junk but they would not replace it and because I wanted the same number I had to buy a second phone which is the Blackberry.
Once this cotract is over I will never deal with Bell again.
