Bell TV subs get free access to TMN Online
When asked why they chose digital cable over satellite television service, a significant number of Canadian consumers cite access to Video on demand (VOD) services as a major reason for choosing digital cable.
In an effort to blunt this significant advantage for cable, Bell TV, Canada’s biggest satellite television provider, today announced the launch of TMN Online.
The new service gives Bell TV customers, who subscribe to the Movie Network, a Video on demand type offering that lets them watch movies and series from any computer with access to high-speed Internet service anywhere in Canada.
Bell and TMN say viewers will have access to approximately 130 hours of content with new content made available each week. Just like cable VOD, viewers will be able to fast-forward, rewind, play and pause shows.
Bell says the service is the first in North America where authentication and access are linked to the subscriber, rather than to the home Internet connection. The benefit to this is that Bell can stream TMN Online content to a customer’s desktop or laptop computer anywhere in Canada, provided a high-speed connection is available.

Hopefully Movie Central will be added in the future for Western subscribers !
…and after you stream 4 or 5 movies in one month, they’ll ding you for exceeding your bandwidth usage cap.
Wow! Already watched a few movies online! Loving it!
A great suggestion: Since the 9242 has an ethernet plug, make this content accessible on the PVR so you can tune to an On-demand channel and stream movies through your internet to your TV!
Requires Silverlight so this is a no go for me. It’s bad enough the amount of sites that use/require Flash, I’m not about to help start promoting another similar architecture.
This is great news! I use my Bell service mostly on the road in my RV so I hope I can use this easily on the go. I have a RoadTrip satellite tv antenna on my Winnebago and this will make life much more enjoyable.
Another RV’er! Very nice! I’m hoping to do the same as you next season.
I have a Winegard satellite as well, and on-demand movies are great! Now to find an adapter to hook it up to the RV.
I’m just curious, do you have your own mobile internet for your RV (Like Bell Sympatico Unplugged or Rogers Portable or any satellite system) you do you just use Wifi wherever you go?
